Within the first year of graduating college I was watching an episode of Stacey David’s Gearz, where he was putting a Ford 5.0, from a Mustang, into a first gen Miata. “This was the perfect build”, I thought. Small, lightweight car, tried and true drivetrain, predesigned kit, with plenty of aftermarket parts available to tune it up. My wife listened to me talk about some day building a V8 Miata for years… then I found one partially completed on CL, so I bought it.
What I’ve done to it to date:
- Welded in rear diff. mount
- Secured rear diff. to chassis
- Installed T-5 Transmission with cross member
- Got driveshaft shortened/installed
- Bled all 4 brake calipers
- Installed and bled clutch slave cylinder
- Installed strut springs and corrected stance
- Mounted radiator
- Mounted Ignition Coil
- Installed steering shaft/linkage
- Added spacers to Engine motor mounts so oil pan would clear the steering rack
Main tasks remaining are fuel system and electrical.
