Within the first year of graduating college I was watching an episode of Stacey David’s Gearz, where he was putting a Ford 5.0, from a Mustang, into a first gen Miata.  “This was the perfect build”, I thought.  Small, lightweight car, tried and true drivetrain, predesigned kit, with plenty of aftermarket parts available to tune it up.  My wife listened to me talk about some day building a V8 Miata for years… then I found one partially completed on CL, so I bought it.

What I’ve done to it to date:

  • Welded in rear diff. mount
  • Secured rear diff. to chassis
  • Installed T-5 Transmission with cross member
  • Got driveshaft shortened/installed
  • Bled all 4 brake calipers
  • Installed and bled clutch slave cylinder
  • Installed strut springs and corrected stance
  • Mounted radiator
  • Mounted Ignition Coil
  • Installed steering shaft/linkage
  • Added spacers to Engine motor mounts so oil pan would clear the steering rack

Main tasks remaining  are fuel system and electrical.
