In the pursuit of a vehicle that would satisfy all my primary criteria: haul the entire family, tow anything, decent performance, decent fuel economy & potential to last me 4 years; I decided that a crew cab F-150 was the way to go.  We’ve had a few different occasions where I’ve sold a vehicle without having a replacement ready to be used.  This creates a bit of stress and forces us to juggle schedules while we’re down a car.  Always having two consistent vehicles in the driveway limits the sales potential but it also limits the stress.

I sold the Miata I’d been driving the weekend before I had a scheduled business trip up to Canada for a week.  I figured that gave me 7 whole days to find a new daily driver. And I did.  Got back into town on Saturday, inquired about this truck via Craigslist on Saturday night and had the truck sitting in my driveway by Sunday afternoon. Efficient.

What I’ve repaired/serviced so far:

  • Sourced a factory spare tire jack
  • Installed a Truxedo tonneau cover
  • Replaced spark plugs and plug boots (166,300 mi)
