2004 Honda VFR

This bike was the first real flip.  I decided I needed to give it a try so I asked myself how much money was I willing to invest with the potential of completely loosing it all? The answer was about $1,500.

I bought this motorcycle in pieces sight unseen via Copart auction.  Not only was it my first attempt at a flip but it was also my first time ever bidding through Copart.  As you can tell, I won the bid and figured out how to follow their auction process.  I went and picked it up from the CrashedToys facility north of Minneapolis and hauled it back home in a uhaul trailer.

The bike was advertised as a clean title and in “run and drive” condition but the body, exhaust and lighting was completely disassembled and sitting in boxes.  Prior to bidding I zoomed in on all the pictures of the boxes to try and identify all the key components visible in an effort to identify any missing ones; looked to all be there.

Once I got it back home I checked it all over and it seemed to be in decent shape; but would it start?  I put the key in and it fired right up, ran nice.  I then worked through reassembling the parts from the boxes back onto the bike.  Nearly all the parts were there, only a couple were missing.  However, a lot of the fasteners were missing so I had to run over to Ace Hardware a few times to get all the correct mounting hardware.

Once I had the bike fully assembled and functioning I posted it up for sale right away. I got a few inquiries from time to time but nobody very serious.  I think I had the bike for about 10 months before someone finally bought it.  I was able to put quite a few miles on it during that time though.  I really liked the bike, it was sporty but also comfortable, had low end torque but also top end power.  Worked well for getting to/from work.  Definitely helped to shave some time off the commute too.  A good experience and I came out of the whole thing with an extra $732 in my pocket.
